Monte Carlo Classic Semis
The top seeds survive intense competition

day was not a walk in the park for Laura Massaro
again the Egyptian Mayar Hany, seeded 5 for the event.
The former World Champ, World number 1 and British Open
holder - yes Mam', she is all of that and more - lost the
third game quite sharply 11/4 before regaining control and
imposing her rule 11/8 in the 4th.
 Laura
now meets Tesni "The Survivor" Evans, who once again
lives up to her nickname as she fought for 87m to see Millie
Tomlinson off!
You only have to look at the scoreline to realise how tough
the match was: 11/7, 12/10, 9/11 11/13, 11/9! It will be a
case of recovering for the final for the Welsh Lady for
tomorrow's final, but she is used to back up great
battles...
So an all British Final in Monte-Carlo which will be played
at 19.00... |

French duo gatecrash last
sixteen
Round One of the 23rd edition of te Monte
Carlo Classic in Monaco saw two home players produce upset
results to reach the last sixteen.
Melissa Alves, fresh from success last weekend in
Créteil Val de Marne open continued her winning run with a
straight-game victory over Tessa ter Sluis, while Marie
Stephan ousted Swiss Nadia Pfister in five games.
The seeded players enter the fray in round two, were Stephan
meets fourth seed Millie Tomlinson while Alves faces
Latvia's Ineta Mackevica.
The only other upset came in an all-Welsh matchup as Ali
Loke got the better of Nia Davies. |
