SUNDAY.... FINALS
PODIUM PAGE
GU13

Final
[3/4] Eve COXON (Eng) 3-0 [5/8] Nour EL LAMEY (Egy)
11/6, 11/2, 13/11 (14mn)
Place 3/4
[3/4] Daniek KRUKKERT (Ned) 3/2 [5/8] Lucinda CROSS (Eng)
5-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-3, 13-11
A
quick affair for Eve that really charmed everybody here in Lille.
Her perfect manners, polite and fair on court, and making the effort of
thanking officials in French have been a hit, and the refs were
impressed by the little girl... Nour (nothing wrong with her
behaviour!!!) did her best today, and finished strongly, but was a bit
unlucky at the end.
As for the 3/4, what a match, 13/11 in the 5th, bless them, I'm not sure
that I would have had the heart/legs, even at 11/12 years old, to fight
that bravely that early in the morning, bless those little future
champions...

Finale
[3/4] Jared CARTER (Eng) 3/1 [9/16] Utkarsh BAHETI (Ind)
8/11, 11/7, 11/1, 11/6
Place 3/4
[2] Conor MORAN (Irl) 3-0 [5/8] Srikar MUMMIDI (Wal)
11/3, 15/13, 11/5 (30m)

For Jared, a slow
start against Utkarsh, but finding his confidence again, he takes the
next three. As for Welsh Srikar, he really has got to find a way
to settle nerves, as like yesterday, he only started playing his game
later in the match bless him. Conor gets a little consolation and
gets to the podium. Well done to the 4 of them to reach that stage of
the competition...

Final
[5/8] Engy HAMOUDA 3-2 [1] Nadiia USENKO (Ukr)
12/10, 11/4, 6/11, 6/11, 11/7
Place 3/4
[5/8] Karina TYMA (Eng) w.o [2] Alina BUSHMA (Ukr)
If the 3/4 didn't happen (remember I told
you about Karina Tyma getting a knee injury in her semi yesterday
against Engy), my my, the final DID take place, drama and all!!
First game for the Egyptian, 12/10, who also dominates the 2nd, 8/4,
when a ball violently hits the Ukranian nose. 15m delay, and if Nadiia
loses the 2nd without scoring another point, 11/4, she comes back with a
vengeance in the 3rd and 4th, 11/6, 11/6. But Engy wouldn't be denied,
and she clinches the title in the (first?) upset of the day, 11/7 in the
5th...

Final - 11h40
[1] Victor CROUIN (Fra) 3-0
[3/4] Hugo MANDIL (Fra)
11/3,
11/6, 11/4 (23mn)
Place 3/4
[9/16] Ahmed El Mashad (Egy) 3-1
[2] Viktor BYRTUS (Cze)
8/11, 11/1, 11/2, 11/9
The
final was an all French affair, with we knew it, a bit of a "knackered"
Hugo Mandil, having had 2 mega matches the day before, 5 setters, and
very emotional. Victor on the other end, dominated his opponent with
poise and much quicker bless him, and arrived much fresher in this
final.
Easily said, but you still have to win it from 2/0 up, as Jonah
Barrington says, it's the hardest thing to do.. Victor didn't tremble,
and closed it out in 3.
Place 3/4
Superb match for this podium, and the score doesn't reflect the hard
work that has been produced by the two of them during the whole match.
Viktor pushed Ahmed to visit the court a few hundred times, and the
Egyptian, well, did the same! Ahmed was a bit more expressive with his
emotions than his opponent, and that frustrated the Czech a bit. But
what an ending in the 4th! 6/6, then match ball for Ahmed, two saved,
but a last great deep straight drive, Viktor flies in the back corner,
hurting himself in the process, but it's no good.. Game and Match
Egypt...

Place 3/4
[17/32] Jack MARTELL (Eng) 3-1 [5/8] Laurence Green (Eng)
11/8, 7/11, 11/5, 11/4

Finale
Another all French final, with an twist. "It's a shame those two are
playing in the semis in our coming up French U19 nationals, said Fred
Lecomte, French Junior National Coach. "They are in the part of the draw,
and they are probably the strongest in France at the moment.
"Aubert did a good match, focused. It's nice to see him coming back at
his best after more than a year away from the courts due to a knee/patella
trouble. It was a good match, Enzo didn't do much wrong, maybe just a
bit of slowing down at the end of th match. Fair game.
